Merzouga Meeting Point & Hotel Pickup

We are based at the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes. Meet us at the base or let us pick you up from your hotel or camp in the Merzouga area.

Our base in Merzouga village

Our Merzouga quad base is in Merzouga village, at the western edge of Erg Chebbi. Many of the hotels, riads and auberges where visitors stay are in and around the village, so for most guests the base is only a few minutes away. The dunes start right behind the village, which means no long transfer before the ride: you meet, get your briefing and head straight into the sand.

We confirm the exact meeting point when your booking is confirmed and send you a map pin on WhatsApp. If you are driving yourself, there is space to park near the base.

Pickup from hotels and desert camps

We can pick you up in Merzouga village and nearby hotels and desert camps. Pickup is free from some hotels; from others a small fee applies. We tell you which when you book.

When you book, simply tell us the name of your hotel, riad or camp. If your camp is deep in the dunes, we will tell you whether we can reach it by quad or 4x4, or suggest a meeting point nearby. For sunrise rides from a camp, pickup is often the easiest option — ask us.

What time to be ready

  • Daytime rides: at the agreed time, about 10 minutes early.
  • Sunset rides: usually about 90 minutes before sunset — we confirm the exact time.
  • Sunrise rides: about 45 minutes before sunrise — confirmed the evening before.

Staying in a desert camp?

Many visitors spend a night in a camp among the dunes of Erg Chebbi. Camps are spread across the sand sea, some close to Hassilabied and Merzouga, others deeper inside. If you are staying in one, there are three simple options:

  • We pick you up at the camp — often possible for camps within reach; tell us the camp name and we confirm.
  • We meet at a point near the camp on the edge of the dunes, agreed in advance.
  • You come to our base with your camp’s transfer, before or after your night in the dunes.

For sunrise rides from a camp, we confirm the plan the evening before so nobody is waiting in the dark.

Arriving by car

If you drive yourself, follow the paved road south from Erfoud and Rissani to Merzouga village, at the edge of the dunes. Our map pin takes you straight to the base. Do not drive a normal car onto the sand — the soft dunes start right at the edge of the village, and getting stuck is easy.

Getting to Merzouga

Merzouga is in the Drâa-Tafilalet region of south-east Morocco, at the end of the paved road that runs south through Erfoud and Rissani. Most visitors arrive by car or on a tour from Marrakech or Fes, or by bus. Read our guide on how to get to Merzouga for routes and travel times.
