About the 1-Hour Quad Tour in Merzouga

The 1-hour quad tour in Merzouga is the simplest way to discover what riding in the Sahara actually feels like. You meet your guide, put on a helmet, learn the controls in a few minutes and then follow your guide out of Merzouga village into the first line of dunes. There is no long transfer and no complicated plan: within ten minutes of starting the engine, you are surrounded by orange sand.

Many of our guests choose the 1-hour quad tour on the day they arrive in Merzouga, before checking in to a desert camp, or on the morning they leave. It also suits riders who have never sat on a quad bike before and would like to try it without committing half a day. Our quads are automatic, so there are no gears to think about — just a thumb throttle and the brakes.

An hour is long enough to feel comfortable on the machine, ride over gentle dune slopes, stop on a high point for photos and come back with sand in your shoes and a big smile. It is not long enough to reach the far side of Erg Chebbi, and we prefer to be honest about that: if you want deeper dunes, longer climbs or remote viewpoints, look at the 2-hour or 3-hour options.

Highlights

  • A complete Erg Chebbi quad experience in about one hour of riding
  • Easy automatic quads — ideal for first-timers
  • Photo stop on a dune with wide desert views
  • Fits easily before or after a camel trek or camp check-in
  • Private guide for your group, with your pace respected

1-Hour Quad Tour: frequently asked questions

Is one hour enough for a quad tour in Merzouga?

One hour is enough for a real first experience of the dunes, a photo stop and the feeling of riding in the Sahara. If you want to go deeper into Erg Chebbi or ride the bigger dunes, the 2-hour quad tour is a better choice.

Can a complete beginner do the 1-hour quad tour?

Yes. This is our most beginner-friendly ride. The quads are automatic and your guide adapts the speed and the terrain to the least experienced rider.

Can I do the 1-hour quad tour at sunset?

You can ride for one hour in the late afternoon, but our dedicated sunset quad tour is timed around the sunset itself and includes waiting time on a dune to watch it. See the sunset quad page.

Can two people share one quad?

Yes. Two people can ride one quad, one driving and one as passenger, and you pay for one quad. Children under 16 always ride as passengers with an adult.

How do I book the 1-Hour Quad Tour?

Send us a message on WhatsApp or use the booking form with your date, number of people and hotel. We confirm availability and the exact time, usually within a few hours. No online payment is needed to request a booking.

What happens if the weather is bad?

If strong wind or a sandstorm makes riding unsafe, we reschedule or cancel without charge.
